Timber Supply from the Solomon Islands
Allocation-based procurement system for tropical hardwood supply supported by structured sourcing, regulatory compliance, and controlled shipment coordination
OVERVIEW
STC supplies hardwood timber from the Solomon Islands through two distinct commercial systems:
-
Specialty hardwood slabs (Raintree)
-
Construction timber (Rosewood)
Each product group follows a different supply structure based on its end-use market.
SPECIALTY SUPPLY SYSTEM (RAINTREE)
Raintree slabs are supplied as specialty hardwood for furniture, slab tables, and architectural applications. This product is managed as an allocation-based supply system, where inventory is exported to Australia and made available for inspection and commercial selection upon arrival. Final buyer selection and purchase occur after arrival inspection and agreement.
CONSTRUCTION SUPPLY SYSTEM (ROSEWOOD)
Rosewood is supplied as structural hardwood for construction and general building applications. These products operate under a FOB export model, where:
-
Supply is confirmed prior to shipment
-
Timber is packed into full container loads
-
Risk transfers at loading in the Solomon Islands
-
Buyer manages freight and import logistics
EXPORT OPERATIONS
Across both supply systems, STC manages:
-
Sourcing from Solomon Islands production partners
-
Grading and specification control at origin
-
Container packing and export coordination
-
Shipment scheduling and consolidation
COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE SUMMARY
-
Raintree: allocation-based supply with Australia-based inspection
-
Rosewood: FOB contract-based export supply
Each system is designed to suit the characteristics of the product and its end-use market.
